In 2012-2013 an investigation of the Rock Hill Warehouse property took place at the request of the Tetlin Village Council, through EPA's Targeted Brownfield Assesment (TBA) program. The warehouse is used to store excavated drums of contaminated soil from multiple releases at the Tetlin Utilities Tank Farm (Hazard ID 859 / File no. 230.38.003), in addition to other hazardous waste. Numerous storage tanks, abandoned vehicles, and other debris, are also stored on the property. The March 26, 2013 Phase I and Phase II report indicated DRO, RRO, 1,4-dioxane, pentachlorophenol, 2-methylnaphthalene, dibenzofuran, bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, arsenic, chromium, and cadmium were present in surface soil above DEC cleanup levels. Additionally, two surface water samples were analyzed from the outlet of Sun Lake into the Tetlin River in order to evaluate potential impacts to nearby surface waters from the subject property, and none of the contaminants anlyzed were detected.
