Past Work on Site

A discharge/release of petroleum was discovered through soil sampling results in connection with a DoD-funded NALEMP program site investigation in July 2013 on behalf of the Native Village of Tetlin. The site is located on Tetlin Native Corporation land on the south side of the Alaska Highway between the highway and Midway Lake, southeast of the Midway Lake turnout. The release is likely from deteriorated 55-gallon drums, vehicle equipment and parts possibly connected to construction of the CANOL Pipeline in the 1940s. Future action under NALEMP is pending.
