US Air Force conducted a combinded Comprehensive Site Evaluation (CSE) Phase I and CSE Phase II at the former Campion Radio Relay Site (RRS). The investigation focused on identifying areas associated with the installation that were utilized for the use, storage, and disposal of Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC). The CSE Phase I report identified 2 areas where additional investigation for MEC was warranted. These include; OB/OD range and the Suspected Rocket Range. The CSE Phase I identified historical accounts of munition accidents and a fatality associated with 2.36-inch rockets found at the Suspected Rocket Range. The CSE Phase II report recommended further investigation at the OB/OD range but recommended LUCs at the Suspected Rocket Range without conducting any field reconnaisance in this area. A Remedial Investigation is currently scoped for the OB/OD range in 2014 and additional investigation of the Suspected Rocket Range is being planned by USACE-Omaha district.
